Commander's Corner

NOW HEAR THIS:

On 20 March 2017 there will be transportation available for anyone interested in joining us on a journey to the Capitol in Saint Paul for the purpose of informing our legislators about the many entitlements we as veterans have earned over the years while preserving our great country’s freedom.  The bus ride leaving from the Willmar Civic Center Arena at 7 AM sharp will be free of charge.  Please consider coming along as we need as many Vet hats as we can muster up.  They keep telling us that a sea of hats in the audience will impress them better than anything else.

Something else to keep in mind is the membership banquet on 8 April 2017.  The menu will be pretty special, so I am asking y’all to send, call or e-mail a RSVP if possible so I know how many bacon wrapped triple “B” sirloins to order: yes, I said “sirloin steaks” cooked on the grill.  This is our way of showing appreciation for the most elite group of warriors who have and always will protect the freedom of this Great Country we call the United States of America, and our members of Finstad-Week Post 1639, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.  Are you impressed yet?  Anyway, please come if you can and let us know ASAP.  Anyone in the area needing transportation, please indicate so on your RSVP.

Something else of interest, y’all might want to come and check out the improvements being done in our kitchen.  As of 1 January, the kitchen has been in the control of the Auxiliary now that the Ladies and Men are together as one entity.  I think it is a giant stride to improve the services of not only the food but the overall integrity of the Post.

I guess that’s about it for this trip; thank everyone for your service and have a happy St Patrick Day on the 17th.
